Fabergé Friday

So after skipping the Fabergé Friday post for the first time in history last week, it's nice to see things are back to normal again. It's not an egg. But it kind of looks look like one... Today's Fabergé object as a scent flask/perfume bottle, made by workmaster Andrei Gorianov sometime between 1908 and 1917!

The bottle is covered in translucent bluish pearl white enamel over a guilloché ground.

A gold chain is attached on both sides...

...and the "neck" is also made of gold, with a leaf-decoration surrounding it. The hight of the bottle is 2 1/16 inches (5,3 centimeters). This would be perfect to bring when, for example, traveling with public transportation among smelly people, using public restrooms, or - filled with smelling salts - in case of both convenient and inconvenient fainting attacks...

Paris - Part 2

So. Let's continue yesterday's Paris - Part 1 post with the second part of what happened during mine and my sister's trip to this romantic city!

On our third day there we were glad to see the sun was shining through the curtains when we woke up. This whole day we spent in Montmartre, starting off in the red light district, among the serious amount of sex shops, and of course - La Moulin Rouge! At one point we felt we were being followed by a man. And we were! It turned out to be French fashion photographer Wilfrid Azencoth who liked what I was wearing, and wanted to take a few pictures of me for his street fashion blog. So we did a very short, impromptu shoot in the shade of some trees.

Then we exercised a bit by climbing all the steps to Sacré-Coeur. The view form up there was marvelous!

The evening ended with dinner and big desserts back in the red light district. Then we went through some sex shops...

New day. New monument. L'Arc de Triomphe! Close to this arch lies a Swarovski store. I remember seeing pictures on the net of a staircase filled with Swarovski crystals some time, that was supposed to be situated in one of their stores. I had forgotten about this though, but when we stepped into the store - there it was!

As usual with sparkly things, the camera can never so them justice. In reality this was amazing!!! When I get rich and by a castle to live in, I want a grand staircase that looks like this!

Then we had lunch at Ladurée. Yep, this was lunch! There are several Ladurée restaurants in Paris, and we went to the one on Champs-Élysées. I highly recommend anyone who visit this city to go eat here! We sat downstairs, but you can also go upstairs, and the whole place looks like an old fashioned mansion. Lovely!

This was our last day before going back home, and we had hoped to be able to by a bottle of champagne and some other goodies, and have a picnic. But then it started to rain again... So we went to a restaurant and drank champagne there instead! There we met a dove who ate peanuts straight out of my hand! And that concludes the story about our week in Paris! I really want to go back some time when the weather is a bit better though. Paris is a wonderful place...

Paris - Part 1

So off to Paris we went, me and my sister, hoping for lovely spring weather so I could skip around in Les Tuileries in my summer dresses! Because of the rainy, cold weather we were met by though, you have to excuse the conformity of my outfits in all the pictures. I did wear different summer dresses, but always with a coat over...

But we did have a really good time, and the relaxing started before we even left Sweden, when we found a Cuban bar at Arlanda Airport!

Our hotel room was small but nice. The walls were far from sound proof though, which made sleeping a bit difficult. I love all these wrought iron railings almost every window in Paris have outside them! Very decorative!

This was my first time in Paris, so I wanted to see the "usual" things people go look at when in this city. These "usual" things are pretty spectacular though - like Notre Dame for example.

Here is my sister, Christine, waiting to dig into lunch - drained cheese with strawberry coulis! To drink wine at lunch seems pretty mandatory in France.

Outside Le Louvre. I really wanted to go in, but since my sister isn't interested in art that much, we escaped from the rain by going shopping on Les Champs-Élysées instead. This was the worst day weather wise. When we came back to the hotel my feet were so wet I could almost pour the rain out of my shoes...

The next day we visited Père Lachaise Cemetery. This was one of the most beautiful, serene places I have ever been to! Many of the graves are made like little private chapels, and I felt like moving into one of them. Knocked on the doors of one, but nobody opened - which was probably for the best... At night this place would be the perfect setting for a horror movie, but it could also be a good place for a romantic photo shoot. I don't think the dead would mind...

One of the people sleeping here is political journalist Victor Noir. He was shot to death in 1870, and the statue that was made for his grave is suppose to depict the moment of his death. This likeness of Monsieur Noir has a very protruding manhood, and it is said that if a woman rubs this, or kisses him and leaves a flower in his hat lying by his feet, it is suppose to bring fertility, luck in love, a good sex life, and in some versions, a husband within the year. The statue has gotten a green layer through the years, but his penis and lips are still very shiny from all the touching. Here is a picture of me doing the rub! Now I'm just waiting to see the results...

Paris isn't called "The City of Romance" for nothing! During our five and a half days there we say about a billion happy couples making out, and three wedding pairs. When we came to the Eiffel Tower the romance hit us too! I've heard incest is ok as long as you keep it in the family...

While waiting for the night, so we could see the tower sparkle in the darkness, we wandered around on Le Champ du Mars, doing normal things like climbing lampposts (my sister did better than me)...

...and trying to take pictures of each other while going up  and down on a seesaw!

And then at ten o'clock, it happened! The Eiffel Tower came alive for a few minutes, glittering like fireworks that never left the ground. I know some Parisians doesn't like this light show, but for me it was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Pure magic! The picture doesn't give justice to it at all though, and if you ever go to Paris you have to go to the Eiffel Tower after dark so you can witness this yourselves!

And with that pretty view I will leave you until tomorrow, when I'll post the second part of what happened in Paris!

The Great Gatsby Premiere Party

I'm BAACK!!! But before I tell you what happened in Paris, I'll tell you what happened the week before my little vacation, when I went to the premiere party of the long awaited movie The Great Gatsby. This party took place at Grand Hotel in Stockholm, and I was glad to had gotten invited to this splendid event. Unfortunately though, I didn't have time to actually see the movie before the party... Oh well...

As Gatsby takes place in the 1920s I wanted to style myself in a time-fitting way. I don't have anything from this decade in my closet, so I improvised a bit with a long black dress, black pearls, smoky eyes and finger waves in my hair. I had never tried doing finger waves before, but I remembered my grandma had given me these hair clips a few years ago, that actually were made for the purpose of making finger waves. So I wet the hair closest to my face with water, and then with setting lotion, and then I put in the clips. So in the pic above you can see what the set looked like. This was me on the bus. I have no idea why people stared...

And this is the finished result! I have to say I'm a bit proud of myself - and also very thankful for my grandma's hair clips... In the back I just did a simple chignon.

The party was held at Grand's "Vinterträdgården"  - the "Winter Garden" - which is a magnificent room built in the early 1900s. Here is me working the red carpet.

Here is one of the bars, and me enjoying what they served in that bar. Guess what it was...

Another bar and some very well dressed men in front of it!

Free champagne and several big buffet tables didn't exactly make the evening worse...

...and neither did the entertainment, which came in the form of the girls of Blackbird Burlesque Cabaret! Here are Pepper Potemkin and Miss Diamond doing some solo acts!

Three of the five Blackbirds - Lola van Dyke, Pepper Potemkin, and Contessa Blackbird - enjoying the decadence of champagne and cigarettes before the show - all in matching dresses sponsored by Daisy Dapper!

And here is the amazing car that was parked outside the entrance! Want!!!

And lastly a picture of me, Fanny, and corset maker Viola Lahger. I really like this photo. It looks like it actually could have been taken in the 20s.

As I think you can guess from the pictures, the party was amazing! I couldn't stay too long though, because the day after I had to get up at the unholy hour of 4 am to go work as an extra in an early 1900s TV show. But more about that another time!

Screw You Guys, I'm Going To Paris!

In about a month I've been writing this blog for two years now - without ever taking a brake from it. But now I will! Just for a week though, so don't worry. It will feel weird to not have anything to do with this blog for a whole week! And I'm sure I'll miss all my readers. No Fabergé Friday. No Full Moon post... But when I come back, I'll be back with the latest news from Paris - because that's where we're going for this little vacation - me and my sister. We look forward to just loll around the Parisian streets, drink lots of good wine, eat lots of good cheese, shop, and relax.

So. Au revoir mes amis! See you in a week!

PS. I probably won't be able to keep away from other social media while in Paris though, so while I'm gone, you can always follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Fabergé Friday

The object for today's Fabergé post is yet another little egg pendant, made by Fabergé's workmaster August Hollming sometime between 1908 and 1913!

This egg is covered in translucent pink enamel over a guilloché ground. On the front sits an Art Nouveau flower in two-colored gold, set with a sparkling green Uralian demantoid garnet.

The stem of the flower is made of rose gold, while the leaves are in matte green gold. The hight of the egg - without the suspension ring - is 9/16 inches (14 millimeter), so it's very small.

For 14,000 USD it can be yours, if you follow this link!

Gianmarco Lorenzi Shoes

Here we go again! I bought new shoes. Oops... But when I did my Shoes!!! post a while ago, and discovered these darlings were on sale on Dondoca's web site, I pretty much told you I would have to get them, so I guess this wasn't really a surprise... Besides, I hadn't gotten new shoes since before Christmas last year, so it felt about time I added to my "little" family of foot-holders. And here they are:

They go by the name The Butterfly Sandal and are made in leather and lacquer by Italian shoe designer Gianmarco Lorenzi. They are from his S/S 2012 collection, so there aren't many left to buy - if you can find them at all - which made me even happier to be able to get my hands - or feet - on a pair in my size!

Even though the heel is 4.7 inches (12,5 centimeters) they're actually really comfortable to walk in. There is a hidden 0.4 inch (1 centimeter) platform, and the front of the shoes is a bit cushioned on the inside. I love the fact that they have straps, which holds my feet still in the shoes and prevents chafing. I really fell for the vintage design in that nude color - which makes your legs look longer - together with the modern purple and neonish pink/red details. Now I just need the perfect event to wear them to!

As I said, there are only a few ones left on Dondoca's web site. So if you feel you might need a pair, this is where I found mine!
