Fraulein Frauke Presents - The Seven Seas

Last Saturday another fabulous Fräulein Frauke Presents took place at Nalen. The theme of this big burlesque event this time was The Seven Seas. 

As I didn't have the time or the strength to put together a theme-fitting costume, I just threw on a green, one shoulder dress from Bettie Page Clothing, and a hair decoration I've made myself. When I arrived Nalen was full of sailors, pirates, mermaids, and other creatures of the sea. Watching the audience at these events is a show in itself, but of course there was a show going on up on the stage too. The performers were:

There was also people singing, and bands and DJs playing all through the night, and I just love this picture photographer John-Paul Bichard took backstage of Louise De Ville while she was getting ready for her second act! And here are a few of the good-looking guests:

A Night Of Insanity...

So, last Saturday I went to the big burlesque event Fräulein Frauke Presents at Nalen. The theme this time was Victorian Asylum, so I decided to skip the fake lashes, done up hair, red lipstick, jewelry and pretty dress I usually wear for these parties, simply throw on an old night gown from the 30s, and go as a lunatic! Here I have to make a note of the fact that one of my followers on social media got really upset that I used the word lunatic to describe my character for this evening, because that's not a term you use for mentally ill persons anymore, and she asked me to "refrain from furthering harmful stereotypes". Of course I am fully aware of this, and I wouldn't actually call anyone a lunatic, but in my apology to her I explained that the theme for the night wasn't 2014 Psychiatric Hospital, but Victorian Asylum. In Victorian days these places were actually called Lunatic Asylums, and so I felt I had full right to use the term lunatic when describing myself that night! In these days of Political Correctness you have to be able to separate "real" words, actually written to describe someone's truth about something, and word-play used to just describe fiction - without being harmful - to stay sane. Excuse the ramble, just didn't want to upset anyone else's feelings with the words used in this post. Because since these parties are like masquerades, and masquerades are - infact - all about dressing up as stereotypes, and with the theme in mind there were several lunatics there, and freaks, and evil doctors, and nurses, and lots of other weirdos! And it was fabulous!!!

This is the 30s nightgown I wore. I got it from my grandma a long time ago. I tried to do a sickly-looking makeup, and people said I looked really scary, so I think I succeeded pretty well! Several people I went up to say "hi" to also said they didn't recognize me at first, so I guess this is a good incognito look for me. Haha!

Ziegfried was the evening's conférencière, and he looked very cute in his hospital gown...

Harley Queen made her amazing debut as a burlesque dancer!

Johanna Fossum sang a beautiful song.

Aurora Galore did two crazy acts. The energy of this girl is just incredible!

Fräulein Frauke did a very French act. Vive la France!

And then there was the mysterious POP COB, who showed us how to make popcorn.

The performer who got the most sound out of the audience though (both sounds of horror, awe, and amusement), was The Baron. He holds the Guinness World Record of having the strongest nipples on Earth, and he really showed what he could do by hanging heavy weights not only from his nipples, but also from his earlobes and eyes. Yes - eyes!!!

Watching the people in the audience at these events is a show in itself. And tonight there were all sorts of creatures fitting for a Victorian Asylum sharing the dance floors. These nurses were kind enough to give me some medicine! And here are a few more examples of what you could find a Nalen this evening...

Some people even had to be put in shackles...

Fräulein Frauke Presents - Victorian Asylum

I've missed the last two Fräulein Frauke Presents because of work, but this Saturday, November 29th, I'm free to go! Yay! The theme of this fabulous burlesque event this time will be Victorian Asylum. So I'm sure it will be a crazy night! Mohahaaa!

During the 19th century and the Victorian era, the lunatic asylums were horrible places where people were treated like animals, instead of getting the help they needed. But on Saturday we can all go to Nalen, where the event will take place, and let loose our deepest fears, fobias, and inner craziness among like-minded freaks... A few of the performers there to enlighten our evening are:

The 4th International Stockholm Burlesque Festival - Saturday Spectacular

After a night of well needed rest after the first evening of the 4th International Stockholm Burlesque Festival I took a peek outside and saw my whole balcony sparkling in the sunshine! This was the result of me spraying my pointe shoes with glitter spray a few days earlier for my performance on the first day of the festival - which you can read about here! I think I have raised the value of this apartment to a great extent by making the balcony so pretty! Anyway... After showering off last night's sparkling remains on my own body, it was time to throw on an old rag and skip away to yet another evening of flamboyant burlesque!

 

The second night of the festival took place at Nalen, and yet again Reuben Kaye talked and sang us through the show.

First the Octbooberfest took place on stage. This is a tassel twirling competition done to support the Pink Ribbon. Tassels and assels (tassels attached to the ass) were shaked - some were even shaked so much they fell off - and in the end Judita Látigos - in the middle, wearing a hat and moustache - won the competition!

Then the night continued with dancing, wine and other shenanigans. Here is Reuben and Tigger having a nice moment together. After this amazing burlesque weekend I was completely beat, and my pain demon wasn't happy. But it was so worth it! Already thinking about what I'm going to wear for next year's burlesque festival. Will probably have to get a new dress. Or two...

Fräulein Frauke Presents - Wonderland!

Last Saturday I found a rabbit hole in the ground while I was out for a walk. I decided to jump down into it, and when I landed on the other side, I found myself surrounded by all kind of weird people and creatures, and I was told I had come to Wonderland... Or, actually, I had come to Nalen, that had been transformed to Wonderland - which was the theme for Fräulein Frauke Presents this time!

I wore my red tulle ball gown from the 40s. I didn't get a good picture of it, but I wore it for a photo shoot a while ago, so if you want to see the whole dress, go here! The earrings are from Daisy Dapper!

As anything can happen - and does happen - in Wonderland, it felt completely normal when Sugar High & Le French Tiger went up on stage and did a burlesque performance with lamps on their heads!

Then Johnnie Lowlife took the stage. Here accompanied by Alice in an old version of Alice In Wonderland that was showing on one of the walls.

Then we moved into the big ball room, where Evy Maroon did a power-to-women act in celebration of the International Women's Day. Other performers were:

Fräulein Frauke - who did the sauciest performance I've ever seen her do! With latex and all! I just had to hump her a bit on the dance floor later that evening. Haha!

Everyone's favorite bunny - Scotty the Blue Bunny - was back in Stockholm to present the show!

Since the theme of the evening was Wonderland, many guests had dressed up as rabbits. Scotty decided to bring them all up on stage for probably the best bunny-shot ever!

Of course the none-bunny guests all looked fabulous too! Here is Ruby Luscious as the Queen of Hearts...

Mr Hultgren had brought the Cheshire Cat on his shoulder. I WANT THAT CAT!!!

Lenore Cain had made a crown out of her own hair. Impressive!

Even the bartenders were decked out in Wonderland attire! Some wore giant playing cards, and here we see the Mad Hatter himself! I'm not sure what he put in his drinks though...

And here is me, with Elegy Ellem and Miss Loulou! I danced until my feet bled - literally! I was wearing new shoes, and forgot to bring band aids... But I couldn't stop myself when I came out on the dance floor, so who cares?! As usual the night was magical, and I can't wait till next time!
