Funny Cat Pictures

Nowadays most of us love to look at funny pictures of cats. If someone puts one of these on Facebook, people start sharing them at once. And on YouTube there are so many funny/cute videos of cats you could probably spend a whole lifetime in front of your computer, staring at the screen. This is not a new phenomenon though! Even before computers and the Internet people have enjoyed these kind of pictures - or, as it says on io9, where I found all the pictures below: "Once humans got their hands on cameras, the dignity of the domesticated feline was forever doomed."

The two photographers I guess you could say started this popular type of amusement were Harry Pointer (1822-1889), and Harry Whittier Frees (1879-1953). The latter one's career of funny animal photography started in 1906, when he, during a dinner, put a party hat on the family cat...

Funny Vintage Photos

It's not that often you see vintage photos - especially really old ones - that have been taken just for the sake of humor. I found some on the "Daily Dawdle" though, and here they come!

My favorite is probably the soldier with the black kitten on his helmet. For some reason I really like the child with a cigaret, sitting beside that hen too. It's just disturbing how comfortable that little child seems to be with the cigaret...And then there's the last pin up picture of course. Sexy panties...
