Jewelry Friday

Oh no! - you might think when seeing I've changed the title from Fabergé Friday to Jewelry Friday. But do not worry! Yes, there will be less Fabergé items, but still lots of glitz and glamour every Friday! Even though I could keep on showing you things by Fabergé for years to come, I just felt it was time for a little change. So, from now on Fridays will be dedicated to everything from modern jewelry to antique pieces by different creators - Fabergé being one of them. To not make this change too big of a chock to all my faithful readers, today's post will still be about Fabergé though - but about some of the newly created pieces the company still bearing that name has to offer right now!

Their Fabergé Imperial Collection really takes its tone from turn-of-the-century Russia, and the pieces Carl Fabergé created himself back in those luxurious days, before the Russian Revolution. As you can see, the eggs still play a big role in the creations from Fabergé...

Maria Nilsdotter Jewelry

Swedish jewelry designer Maria Nilsdotter creates pieces inspired by a mysterious and dark fantasy world, often drawn from folk tales and mythology. The design is characterized by symbolic figures, unexpected twists and thought provoking contrasts... After graduating from renowned arts college Central Saint Martins in 2007 Maria started her brand right away, creating all her jewelry by herself. Since then her business has grown as demand for her pieces increased. In 2012 Maria was awarded the prestigious Guldknappen Accessoar for accessory designer of the year by Swedish magazine Damernas Värld, and today her jewelry is made by skilled craftsmen in Sweden and England, and is being sold by shops in several different countries, with her flagship store in Stockholm.

If you want to stand out in a crowd by wearing eye catching jewelry, Maria Nilsdotter's designs will certainly make people notice you! As usual, I have picked some of my personal favorites to show you, but to see it all, please visit Maria Nilsdotter's web site here!

Fleurs Du Mal

My friend and fellow model Lenore Caine isn't just gorgeous, she makes gorgeous jewelry too! Under the name Fleurs Du Mal she creates handcrafted ear gauges, earrings, necklaces, rings and other accessories.

At the latest Burleskloppis (burlesque flea market) I bought this beautiful black rose-ring from her, and here are some more examples of her work,

Seduction rose set in purple.

Rings.

Red rose gauges.

Gold rose gauges.

Tentacle hanging gauges.

The bottom pic is Lenore herself, modeling a pair of her rose gauges. She makes her jewelry in many different colors, and has also started making lovely crochet collars!

Woodland Belle

After graduating from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, jewelry artist Mai Mckemy started crafting jewelry and accessories under the name Woodland Belle. Finding her inspiration in nature's own magic, she wanted to create lovely things that make women feel beautiful. Each piece is personally designed and created by Mai in cast metals that are 100% economically responsible reclaimed metals, sourced in the USA. My personal favorites are the little flowers encased in glass vials though... Whether you live in a city or close to nature, wearing Woodland Belle pieces will allow you to always carry around a bit of the free wilderness...

Dolce & Gabbana Jewelry

And so we have reached the last post about Dolce & Gabbana's F/W 2013/2014 Mosaic Collection, and today it's all about the jewelry! Just like the clothes and bags in this collection, the jewelry blends royal splendor and Catholic imagery. I think Madonna would have loved these pieces during the 80s, and why not today too? I would happily wear them!

Van Cleef & Arpels

In 1896 Alfred Van Cleef and his uncle Salomon Arpels founded the company Van Cleef & Arpels. Ten years later they opened their first boutique at 22 Place Vendôme in Paris. Ever since then, Van Cleef & Arpels have been creating beautiful jewelry, watches and perfume, and has received a long list of prominent commissions from royal and imperial courts, financiers and industrial magnates. The company's "High Jewelry" takes inspiration from fairytales, travels to distant countries, and all sorts of imaginary scenarios. Here are a few of these little works of wonder, to sparkle up your day a bit!
