Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2013 Collection
Ok, I know no one really wants to think about fall right now, when summer has finally arrived. But I just took a look at Zac Posen's Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, and have to share my favorites from it - right now! And it is called "PRE-Fall", so I think it's quite alright. Get ready to drool...

Fabergé Friday
Let's take a look at another of the many egg-pendants that were made in Fabergé's workshop. This one was created around 1900!
About half of the little egg is covered in white enamel over a guilloché ground. The other half consists of a faceted, gold mounted amethyst. It was created by workmaster Feodor Afansiev.
The hight of the egg is 0.4 inches (1,75 centimeters), and it was once owned by Vladimirovna Chatelain - Lady in Waiting of Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna (sister of Tsar Nicholaus II).

Bibian Blue
In the year 2000, design company Bibian Blue was launched in Barcelona. The studio was quickly recognized for it's stylish, original designs, and is becoming more and more known throughout Europe. Bibian Blue's creations are based on the traditional corset, but reinvented in many different ways, mixing avant garde, pin-up glamour, pop art and retro-vintage styles. As I'm a corset-lover I would love to model some of these creations some day! Here are a few of my favorites:

Anne W Brigman
Anne W Brigman (1869-1950) began photographing in 1901. She was active in the bohemian community of the San Francisco Bay area, and it didn't take long before she began exhibiting her work in local photographic salons. She became a big influencer on many of her contemporaries, and also ventured into acting and writing poetry.
Her photography often depicts female nudes set in landscapes or trees. They often have very staged, dramatic looks, and she frequently used herself as model. After shooting she touched up the negatives with paints, pencils, or superimposition. I find her photos dreamlike, pagan, and femininely liberating.

Alexander McQueen - Savage Beauty
In 2011 the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, did an exhibition called Savage Beauty, which showcased some of Alexander McQueen's gorgeous creations. For a preview of the show, photographer Solve Sundsbo depicted some of these outfits with his camera. There are some of the photos from that show:

Fabergé Friday
This Friday's Fabergé object is a marvelous little bonbonnière in the shape of a sea shell, created around 1890!
The bonbonnière is carved from smokey topaz. The hinged gold lid is enameled opaque dark blue, and decorated with gold foliate scrolls. Around the lid's edge runs a border of rose-cut diamonds, and the thumbpiece is a cabochon ruby, flanked by two rose diamonds.
The box is 2.8 inches (7.2 centimeters), and has been modeled on 18th century gold mounted shell boxes, that Fabergé probably saw during his studies and visits to the Hermitage.
Chief workmaster during the creation of this lovely little thing was Mikhail Perkhin, and, besides myself, I think I have quite a few readers who wouldn't mind being the owner of it...
