This Friday I have an amazing tiara for you! It was made around 1900, and I'm sure it would fit my tiny head perfectly! Haha!

In the center sits a sunburst and crescent moon motif over a large cushion-shaped diamond, on a scrolling frame of shooting stars, set throughout with old brilliant-cut diamonds, mounted in gold. The principal diamond is of approximately 1.75 carats, the rest of around 14.00 carats in total. It was sold at Bonhams for 16,250 GBP.

Oh no! - you might think when seeing I've changed the title from Fabergé Friday to Jewelry Friday. But do not worry! Yes, there will be less Fabergé items, but still lots of glitz and glamour every Friday! Even though I could keep on showing you things by Fabergé for years to come, I just felt it was time for a little change. So, from now on Fridays will be dedicated to everything from modern jewelry to antique pieces by different creators - Fabergé being one of them. To not make this change too big of a chock to all my faithful readers, today's post will still be about Fabergé though - but about some of the newly created pieces the company still bearing that name has to offer right now!

Their Fabergé Imperial Collection really takes its tone from turn-of-the-century Russia, and the pieces Carl Fabergé created himself back in those luxurious days, before the Russian Revolution. As you can see, the eggs still play a big role in the creations from Fabergé...

When you get a fever and need to check your temperature, I'm sure we'd all feel better if the thermometer stuck up into our bu... I mean in our armpit, was pretty and made by Fabergé. Like this one for example! It was made by workmaster Mikail Perkhin, around 1895.

It's very rare to find medical equipment among Fabergé's products, but here we have one! The thermometer has a handle covered in midnight blue enamel over a guilloché ground. It's also decorated with gold bands of chased leaves, the terminal set with a big moonstone. It's 12.9 cm long, denoted in centigrade, and was sold at Sotheby's for 61,250 GBP.

It can be really annoying when you have sat down for dinner, and realize you've forgotten to bring the ketchup! For moments like this, all you need is a butler, and something to call him with - like this Fabergé table-bell for example! It was made sometime between 1896 - 1908.

The bell is made of silver, and has a handle of engraved yellow gold covered in oyster enamel. The handle is also decorated with red and green gold swags and bows, finished off by a cabochon ruby at the top. It's dimensions are 8.2 x 3.6 cm, and since 1953 it belongs to the Royal Collection.

I'm pretty bad at wearing brooches. I have quite a few of them, but for some reason I always forget to pin them on me. If I owned this one by Fabergé I probably wouldn't forget about it though... It was made by workmaster Alfred Thielemann, around 1910.

The field of the oval brooch is covered in translucent rose over a guilloché ground The border is made of gold in a ribbon-tied reed pattern. in the center sits a faceted citrine, from which stretches gold leaf decorations. The length of the brooch is 3.2 cm, and it was sold at Sotheby's for 15,000 USD.

And this Friday's Fabergé object is - a dish! Made sometime between the years 1896 and 1908.

The circular dish is made of nephrite and has an everted trim. The center column is made of gold and red enamel over a guilloché ground, decorated with gold leaves that spiral up the stem. The base of the column has chased gold leaves and is set with rose-cut diamonds. The top handle is in the form of a looped enamel snake, set with a cabochon ruby on it's head, and a gold tongue. The dimensions of the whole object are 2.4'' x 3.7 '' (6.2 x 9.5 cm), and it is part of the Royal Collection.

For me, one thing that says summer has come to Sweden is when the swallows have arrived. This haven't happened yet. But while we're waiting, here is a swallow from Fabergé! It was commissioned by King Edward VII in 1907, as part of the Sandringham Commission.

This very life-like little bird is carved from obsidian and white quartzite. It has eyes of rose-cut diamonds, and feet made of gold. The size of the swallow is 1'' x 2.5'' x 0.6'' (2.5 x 6.4 x 1.6 cm), and it is part of the Royal Collection.

Today's Fabergé-object - a pair of cuff links! They were made by workmaster August Hollming, sometime between 1898 and 1904.

The cuff links are made of varicolored gold and shaped as Imperial double-headed eagles, decorated with diamonds, and set with cabochon rubies in the center. The bars are decorated with diamond-set ties. The links come in a fitted wood box. I found them at Sotheby's.

So, here we have one more of those really usable Fabergé objects you didn't know you needed - a pen rest!

The pen rest is made of nephrite, decorated with a mistletoe design of pearl and rose-cut diamond berries on a gold stem with gold leaves. The size of the piece is 0.7'' x 1.7'' x 0.9'' (1.9 x 4.3 x 2.3 cm), and it was acquired by King George V, who always kept it on his desk. It now belongs to the Royal Collection.

To glam this Friday up, I - of course - have a new Fabergé object for you! This time it's an egg-shaped cup, made by workmaster Erik Kollin, sometime between 1896-1901.

This egg-shaped cup was made to be given as a traditional gift on Easter morning. It's made of rock crystal, standing on a foot of gold. On top of the lid sits a finial of moonstone, caved out in the form of Minerva's head. The finial is also decorated with a band of rose-cut diamonds and cabochon rubies. The foot is enameled with the letters X.B for Christoss Voskress - Christ is risen. The size of the cup is 4.4'' x 1.8'' (11.1 x 4.5 cm), and it was probably acquired by Queen Alexandra. Since 1953 it has been part of the Royal Collection.

Today's Fabergé object is once again one of those very useful bell pushes! This one was made around 1900!

The quatrefoil shaped bell push is made of pale green bowenite with bun feet of two-colored gold. The top is decorated with gold sprays of foliage, with a central ribbon holding a diamond. There are four press studs made of four different gems - sapphire, moonstone, amethyst and ruby. The size of the bell push is 0.9'' x 2.6'' x 2.2'' (2.4 x 6.7 x 5.6 cm), and it is now part of the Royal Collection.

This week's Fabergé object is a lovely little pendant. It was made by workmaster August Hollming, sometime between 1899 and 1908.

The oval pendant is covered in translucent pink over a sunburst guilloché ground, emanating from a diamond-set star. Around it runs a gold scroll border. The suspension loop is set with rose-cut diamonds.

Whatever your choice of drink is, it always tastes better in a pretty glass. Like this one by Fabergé for example! It was made by workmaster Mikhail Perkhin, 1895.

The cup of the goblet is made of rock crystal. The stem and foot holding it up is covered in royal blue and white enamel, decorated with ornaments of two-colored gold and rose-cut diamonds. It was given as a Christmas present to Queen Mary, by Dowager Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna, at Christmas 1895. Now it resides in the Royal Collection.

This week's Fabergé object is a beautifully embellished little box. It was made by workmaster Mikhail Perkhin, sometime before 1896!

The 1.5'' x 5.4'' x 3.7'' (3.8 x 13.7 x 9.3 cm) size box is made of bloodstone. It is heavily decorated with gold ornaments in the neo-rococo style, set with rose-cut diamonds.

The box was presented by the daughters of Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna to King George V, and is now part of the Royal Collection.

Cold January is a good month for sitting inside playing card. And of course you need a nice card box to put your deck in! Like this one by Fabergé for example. It was made by workmaster Mikhail Prekhin, around 1890.

The box is made of aventurine quartz, and decorated with gold ornaments, rose-cut diamonds and olivines. On top sits the initials of Grand Duchess Xenia of Russia, who first owned it. It was later acquired by Queen Mary of the United Kingdom, which now makes it part of the Royal Collection. The dimensions of the card box are 3.5'' x 2.5'' x 1.9'' (9 x 6.4 x 4.7 cm).

It's Fabergé egg-time again! There are SO many little egg-pendants from his workshop out there! This one is very unusual though. It was made by workmaster Feodor Afanasiev, sometime between 1908 and 1917.

The egg is carved from ivory, and sits in a piece of gold "egg shell".

The height of the egg is 3/4'' (1,8 cm), and it was sold to an unknown buyer from Romanov Russia.

Christmas and New Years are over, and so is my blog-break. I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays and ringing in the new year! I had a calm Christmas with my family and LOTS of food! But now we're back to normal, and since it's Friday, here comes another Fabergé object - a rare jewelled gold fan! It was made by workmaster Henrik Wigström, around the year 1910.

The fan is beautifully painted with dancing figures in early 19th century clothes and signed Charlott. The sticks holding up the painted leaf are made of pierced and gilded mother-of-pearl. The two guards are of matte finish gold with ribbon-tied reed borders. One of them is applied with collet-set brilliant-cut diamonds and rubies, and the rose-cut diamond-set crowned cipher of Crown Princess (later Queen) Alexandrine of Denmark. The other guard is set with diamonds and sapphires. The length of the fan is 8.5'' (21.7 cm).

Today's Fabergé object - a brooch. Made by workmaster Anna Ringe, sometime between 1908 and 1917!

The brooch is lozenge-shaped, and covered in lavender purple enamel over a guilloché ground. The edges are gold, and in the center of it all sits a bezel-set diamond. The width of the brooch is 1.9'' (4.9 cm), and the prize for it is 4,900 USD. You find it at Romanov Russia!

Today's Fabergé object - a lorgnette - was made by workmaster Henrik Wigström, sometime between 1908 and 1917!
 

The lorgnette is made of two-colored gold, and has spring-hinged lens mounts. Part of the handle is enameled in cerulean blue over a guilloché ground, and decorated with husk leaves in gold. When closed, the length of the lorgnette is 5.5'' (14 cm), and the price for it is 18,500 USD. You find it at John Atzbach Antiques.

A few days ago I was hemming a dress, and the fabric was so sturdy I lost quite a lot of skin on the finger I used to push the needle through the fabric. That would never have happened had I owned a thimble though. And since Fabergé created most things you might need in life, of course I found a little thimble among his creations! It was made by workmaster Feodor Afanasiev, around 1890!

The thimble is 0.9'' (2.2 cm) high and made of gold. The base is decorated with a Greek key ornament in turquoise enamel. It can be yours for 11.500 USD, and it is for sale at John Atzbach Antiques.
