New Year's Masquerade Ball

Remember those fairytale-like dream-parties you've imagined going to ever since you were very young. When you could dress up in really fancy clothes, deck yourselves with jewels, and dance all night long...Well, on New Years Eve my childhood dream came true, when I finally was able to go to one of these fairytale-parties...

If you follow this blog, you have read about the amazing burlesque events called Fräulein Frauke Presents several times before! This Masquerade Ball was the first time Fräulein Frauke and her coproducer John Paul Bichard opened the doors to Nalen on a New Years Eve though - and it was also the most extravagant party they have ever created! The tickets sold out completely, and had anyone showed up in jeans and a T-shirt, that person had been thrown to the lions!

My mask - which I had bought at a lovely shop in Stockholm called Devil's Delight - was ready to be tied on...

...and so were my panniers!

I had sewn an 18th century dress for a party a few years ago, so it was fun to be able to use that "old rag" again. There is so much steel in the corset and the panniers I'm practically bullet proof in that thing!

With a black ostrich plume in my hair, a fan in my hand, and a black heart Fanny painted on my chest I was ready for the night!

My dates for the evening were Fanny and Albin - meow!

Outside Nalen we were met by a fire-eater!

Then we were led into the magnificent ball room, where the tables were decorated in white and silver. The three-course dinner was delicious, and the men an women serving the food and wine did their job so well they might as well have served kings and queens! And of course we were also royally entertained...

Conférencière of the night was Dusty Limits. Even though it would probably be very difficult to impress him - since I'm a girl - and even though he has forever ruined the wonderful song The Music Of The Night from The Phantom Of The Opera for me, I still have a huge crush on him! And even though I would feel very sorry for the hamster I would still *beep*...the hamster...*beep*...*beep* if he wanted me to...Don't ask about that part...

Other performers were:

Fräulein Frauke herself of course!

And expert stage-kitten, adorable Gabriella!

...Ragnar won the champagne bottles for best dressed! But it was wonderful to see that everyone of the hundreds of guests really had made an effort in dressing up! Some other gorgeous guests were:

Lenore Caine and her man, Krille!

Johannes!

Magdalena!

And Karin!

Here is another picture of me, taken by Martin Hammar. I have no idea who the man behind me is though! He just said he thought the picture needed to be decorated a bit, and jumped in behind me. I have to say we do look pretty good together though! Haha!

The night was so lovely I still wonder if it was just a dream...And for those of you who missed it this New Years Eve...well...I have heard Fräulein Frauke might invite us next year too...

...And her web site: http://www.frauleinfrauke.com/

All photos marked "Bichard" taken by John Paul Bichard - who here, in a rare moment, got captured by the camera himself!

Blackbird Burlesque Cabaret

Last Wednesday it was yet again time to glue on the fake lashes and head out to a burlesque event! This time to witness the premiere of Grandma's Tease'l Tassel at Astoria.

The show was presented by Blackbird Burlesque Cabaret. This quintet of lovely ladies is made up of Pepper Potemkin, Lola van Dyke, Contessa Blackbird, Miss Diamond, and the singer Grandma. Together - and as solo artists - they have performed all over the world, and this show at Astoria is their latest project.

I didn't have a date for the evening, but as soon as I arrived I met the beautiful Ruby Lu Scious, and Lily De Luxe! Ruby and I got married the day after, so maybe I should change the name of this blog to Mrs Lu Scious' Vintage Pearls now...Hm...

Lady Francescca and Jolie Étoile were also there to add to the burlesque glamour...

...as were the feathers in the flowers!

The show was full of glitter, glamour, music, singing and tassel twirling - here executed by Contessa Blackbird! I've never seen anyone put nipple tassels on the butt before though. Genius!!!

The whole group in la grande finale! I loved the show! Pure entertainment! Instead of the usual so called "Stage Kitten" - the girl cleaning the stage from clothed between the acts - the Blackbirds had a "Glitter Boy"! I want a Glitter Boy too!!!! A cute boy who follows me everywhere, picking up pieces of clothing I might "accidentally" drop, and throwing glitter over me now and then...

Awesome Rags

Last Thursday me and Fanny were invited to the opening of a new clothing store in Stockholm - "Awsome Rags".

Photo: Awesome Rags

The red carpet was in place, and all the guests were given a red rose when arriving.

Bubbles, beer, and mini-cupcakes were served...

...To the tunes of jazz!

The two-floored store contains several different clothing brands. Here are a few of them:

"Ida Sjöstedt". Look at the bow-buttons!!!

"Nicolaj d'Etoiles". Liked this one...

"Ida Lanto". It's a bit difficult to see in the pic, but there are chains hanging down the back of this gown!

Fanny tried on a bear mask...

...But this is how lovely she looked without the mask!

A very blurry picture of the both of us. But the cool thing was that I didn't noticed it said "You Look AWESOME" on the mirror, until I saw it in the photo!

Now and then during the evening, burlesque performances took place here and there in the store. First out was Fräulein Frauke, who did her cupcake number.

She looked so sweet I wanted to eat her up...

...But I decided to go for one of the lesser substitutes instead...And, yes, that's a huge cherry she has on her head!

She ended her number by sticking a pin into a big balloon, held over her head, from which a cascade of confetti flew out! Look how well I managed to capture the movement in her arm! That's exactly what I was going for in this pic...kind of...Tonight she'll show something completely different at "Fräulein Frauke Presents: Duty Calls"! I know what it is, but I ain't gonna kiss'n tell!...Not that I'll be able to see it anyway, since I have to work!!!!! But I might do a post on it later anyway, by "borrowing" some of the photos I know her husband John Paul Bichard will snap during the night!

Fräulein Frauke after her performance! I made sure to give her a really good hug, so some of the glitter she had on her skin rubbed off on me too!

We didn't stick around long enough to see all the performers. But we did have time to see Ruby Lu Scious...

...and Ivoncita...

...Before we headed over to T. G. I. Friday for some of their delicious drinks.

On our way home, we marveled at all the Christmas lights Stockholm has been decorated with! Here are some shining trees and reindeers at the Sergel fountain. Pretty...
