The Great Gatsby Premiere Party

I'm BAACK!!! But before I tell you what happened in Paris, I'll tell you what happened the week before my little vacation, when I went to the premiere party of the long awaited movie The Great Gatsby. This party took place at Grand Hotel in Stockholm, and I was glad to had gotten invited to this splendid event. Unfortunately though, I didn't have time to actually see the movie before the party... Oh well...

As Gatsby takes place in the 1920s I wanted to style myself in a time-fitting way. I don't have anything from this decade in my closet, so I improvised a bit with a long black dress, black pearls, smoky eyes and finger waves in my hair. I had never tried doing finger waves before, but I remembered my grandma had given me these hair clips a few years ago, that actually were made for the purpose of making finger waves. So I wet the hair closest to my face with water, and then with setting lotion, and then I put in the clips. So in the pic above you can see what the set looked like. This was me on the bus. I have no idea why people stared...

And this is the finished result! I have to say I'm a bit proud of myself - and also very thankful for my grandma's hair clips... In the back I just did a simple chignon.

The party was held at Grand's "Vinterträdgården"  - the "Winter Garden" - which is a magnificent room built in the early 1900s. Here is me working the red carpet.

Free champagne and several big buffet tables didn't exactly make the evening worse...

...and neither did the entertainment, which came in the form of the girls of Blackbird Burlesque Cabaret! Here are Pepper Potemkin and Miss Diamond doing some solo acts!

And lastly a picture of me, Fanny, and corset maker Viola Lahger. I really like this photo. It looks like it actually could have been taken in the 20s.

As I think you can guess from the pictures, the party was amazing! I couldn't stay too long though, because the day after I had to get up at the unholy hour of 4 am to go work as an extra in an early 1900s TV show. But more about that another time!

Stockholm Fashion Week

Just in time for Stockholm Fashion Week I came down with a lovely cold. But with some pain killers and nose drops I managed to drag myself out of bed to go to a few events I had been invited to. First I went to a party held to promote Swedish corset designer Viola Lahger. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the burlesque show that incorporated several of these lovely corsets. It was simply too crowded where I stood.

I found this picture from Tifa's Instagram though, that shows some of the people I partied with: Top left: Karin Holmström Lahger - owner of, and corset maker at Viola Lahger. Bottom left: Olivia, Helena and Elsa. And to the right: Tifa herself! This day - August 16th - also happened to be my birthday, and Fanny, who was also there, brought me a whole bag of presents from where she works!

It's not too bad having a friend who is Shop Manager at Agent Provocateur...

The day after I had been invited to a VIP mingle-evening, where new designers showcased, and sold, their designs. The woman who had invited me was none other than Swedish burlesque/vintage-looking hat designer Marika Smith! It was easy to see who her guests were, since we all - of course - wore her hat creations!

...hat-stand! As you can see she creates both demure, vintage-looking hats for everyday wear, and more burlesque fascinators for times when you might need one of those.

And the always gorgeous Miss Diamond from the extraordinary Blackbird Burlesque Cabaret! Miss Diamond isn't just a gem in the burlesque world though, she is also CEO of her own brand Mrs Murphy! 

She gave me a little present. Not sure exactly what it is, but it looks like a milky, transparent, balloon, and the girls told me I would learn the use of it after I'm married. So now I'm looking forward to that!

Since we're talking about fashion here, I would also like to mention that I'm now featured on the blog Be In Style, in their weekly series Best of the Web, where they recognize the most interesting style blogs! Blackbird Burlesque Cabaret

Last Wednesday it was yet again time to glue on the fake lashes and head out to a burlesque event! This time to witness the premiere of Grandma's Tease'l Tassel at Astoria.

The show was presented by Blackbird Burlesque Cabaret. This quintet of lovely ladies is made up of Pepper Potemkin, Lola van Dyke, Contessa Blackbird, Miss Diamond, and the singer Grandma. Together - and as solo artists - they have performed all over the world, and this show at Astoria is their latest project.

I didn't have a date for the evening, but as soon as I arrived I met the beautiful Ruby Lu Scious, and Lily De Luxe! Ruby and I got married the day after, so maybe I should change the name of this blog to Mrs Lu Scious' Vintage Pearls now...Hm...

Lady Francescca and Jolie Étoile were also there to add to the burlesque glamour...

...as were the feathers in the flowers!

The show was full of glitter, glamour, music, singing and tassel twirling - here executed by Contessa Blackbird! I've never seen anyone put nipple tassels on the butt before though. Genius!!!

The whole group in la grande finale! I loved the show! Pure entertainment! Instead of the usual so called "Stage Kitten" - the girl cleaning the stage from clothed between the acts - the Blackbirds had a "Glitter Boy"! I want a Glitter Boy too!!!! A cute boy who follows me everywhere, picking up pieces of clothing I might "accidentally" drop, and throwing glitter over me now and then...

Fräulein Frauke Presents - La Belle Paris

Saturday night Fräulein Frauke yet again presented one of her decadent burlesque parties at Nalen in Stockholm! I had looked forward to this night a long time - since I missed the last one - and it was solely because of this I refrained from ending my life with the help of diamonds the day before...

The theme for the event was La Belle Paris. Since I had been working constantly the last three weeks I didn't have time to prepare my outfit too much, I just thought Paris - absinth - green, and went with a green Bettie Page Clothing dress from Daisy Dapper!

In preparation for the evening I met Elsa, Tifa, Elegy Ellem...

...and Fanny for dinner.

We had to walk a bit from the restaurant to Nalen. But halfway we got so thirsty we had to stop at Hotel Anglais to fill up on fluids! People were staring at us like we were some kind of aliens, but when we arrived at Nalen we fitted in perfectly among all the rest of the guests - who knew how to dress...

On stage was a five meters high Eiffel Tower made of balloons in les couleurs de France!

The conférencier - Laurie Hagen - was probably born to be on stage! Crazy energetic!

Velma Voluptuous both sang...

...and stripped! In a pink, sparkling frenzy!

Marianne Cheesecake also had two numbers - one with glittery bananas...

...and one inspired by the Orient!

Of course there were baguettes involved too! Very French. Here handled by Alexi Carpentieri!

When he dropped his clothes - finally! - you could see the Eiffel Tower painted on his whole backside! 

Of course Fräulein Frauke performed too! Singing with her beautiful voice...

...and shaking her pretty feathers!

La Grande Finale was brought to us by Blackbird Burlesque Cabaret!

After the wonderful show the dancing started! Here are the dj's of the night - Curly Lou and Elin Lantto! We danced, drank, celebrated a birthday, and talked about everything from Romeo and Juliet, to slaves and senile dogs...and there was something about fire and a penis too...

The best thing about that night though, was that I met the love of my life - a French...man...for the night named "Pierre"! As you can see in the picture she...I mean "he"...liked me too. We're getting married next Friday, and are planning to move to Bretagne!

Here's another, even more flattering, picture of me and my man! There's nothing that makes me fall so hard as the combination of big boobs and a fake moustache! I didn't go home with him though. As I'm a good girl, he will have to wait until we're married...And until I've found the key to my chastity belt, that I seem to have lost...Again...
