Fabergé Friday

Small boxes are good to have for all those little trinkets that seems to amass everywhere. So, here is another one from Fabergé! It was made by workmaster Mikhail Perkhin, sometime between 1896 and 1903.

The fan-shaped box is made of bloodstone, with a lid is of alternate tooled gold and pink guilloché enamel stripes. Around the edge runs a line of brilliant diamonds, and diamonds also encircle the cabochon moonstone pushpiece. The hinge, shaped as the handle of the fan, is made of gold and set with two pearls. The measurements of the box is 0.8'' x 2.2'' x 1.5'' (2 x 5.5 x 3.9 cm). and since 1953 it has been part of the Royal Collection.

It's Halloween! So what better Fabergé object to show you than this - a pumpkin-shaped box! It was made sometime before 1896!

The little box - 1'' x 2'' (2.5 x 5.2 cm) - is carved from a piece of carnelian. One section has been cut out to form a sort of lid. Around the edges of this lid runs a white enameled border set with rose-cut diamonds. The pumpkin-box is now part of the Royal Collection.

Do you have many trinkets that needs boxes to be put in? Well, why not put them in a box from Fabergé?! This one was made by workmaster Henrik Wigström, sometime between 1903 and 1908!

This little circular box is made of red gold, covered in translucent royal blue over a guilloché background. The borders are decorated with leaf ornaments in green gold. The lid is set with a flower basket of rose-cut diamonds, which holds flowers of diamonds, emeralds and cabochon rubies with gold leaves.
The dimensions of the box are 0.9'' x 1.4'' x 1.4'' (2.2 x 3.5 x 3.5 cm), and since 1953 it has been part of the Royal Collection.

Fabergé Friday And Full Moon

As today's Fabergé Friday coincides with the full moon, I made sure to find an object that resembles the moon. And this is what I found - a little box made by workmaster Feodor Afanassiev, sometime between the years 1896 and 1908!

The ovoid gold box is covered in oyster enamel over a guilloché ground. The laurel border around the lid is in two-colored gold, with a diamond set thumb-piece. The center of the lid is set with a cabochon ruby. The size of the box is 0.8'' x 2.1'' x 1.6'' (2.1 x 5.3 x 4.0 cm), and since 1953 it belongs in the Royal Collection.

Fabergé Friday

It's not one of the Imperial Easter Eggs, but it's still a pretty Fabergé egg-shaped box! Made around the year 1900!

The egg is made of gold, covered in pink enamel over a guilloché ground. On it's sides sits rose-cut diamonds, from which hangs crossed laurel swags. The top of the lid is set with a domed rock crystal, surrounded by rose-cut diamonds. To open the egg you use the cabochon emerald thumbpiece seen in the middle. The size of the egg-box is 1.6'' x 1.1'' (4 x 2.7 cm), and it was acquired by Queen Mary, sometime before 1920. Now it's part of the Royal Collection.

It's Friday again! Good thing this day comes every week. Otherwise there would be less Fabergé posts... For this week I have chosen a pretty bonbonnière, made around 1896 - 1908!

The box has a rounded cushion shape, and is enameled translucent royal blue over a moire guilloché ground on the sides, and a sunburst guilloché pattern on the top. In the middle of the lid sits a cabochon ruby, surrounded by four golden leaves.

Around the edge of the lid runs a border of chased yellow gold laurel leaves, and the thumbpiece is set with five graduating rose-cut diamonds. The interior of the bonbonnière is guilt. You can find it over at Wartski.
