Monday's school outfit

This, my friends, is a sad day...It's the day of the last "Monday's School Outfit" post!

But let's not cry. Let's just remember the good times we've had!

For the last PR-class (wow it's gone fast!) I went with a skirt I made after a pattern from the 50s - here shown in fifth position!

With the obligatory crinoline from "Bettie Page Clothing" of course!

Love the fabric print on this skirt! It existed in many different colors, and I was tempted to sow something in every one. Didn't though. That might have become a bit too repetitive. I allowed myself to get two different colors though! The other is black/gray, and I made the dress below out of it, from a pattern from the 40s.

So. That's it! The last "Monday's School Outfit"...I wonder what I'm gonna do next..."Monday's Panties" maybe...Or maybe not...

Monday's school outfit

MONDAY!!! And school outfit of the day is...

...Tadaa!!! Vintage skirt from "Pendleton"! 

Or...actually I don't really know how "vintage" this skirt is. But I bought it at the vintage department at Sivletto. It's nice and wooly for the cold weather! The cardigan I'm sure of is vintage though! Also from "Sivletto". I feel very demure in this outfit - which I of course wear with vintage lingerie...

Vintage "Veitel" stockings! As there's no elasticity in vintage stockings, they tend to become a bit baggy sometimes - especially if you have skinny legs like me. These fit me perfectly though! Found them at "Devil's Delight" in Stockholm. Garter from "What Katie Did".

My grandmother gave me this muff some time ago. She used it when she was young in the 20s or 30s. I decided to try it out today. It has a little pocket inside where you can put money, a buss ticket...or an iPhone!

Monday's school outfit

Monday again! Time really flies when you have a lot to do! Something I don't mind at all though...

This Monday I decided to skip the skirts and dresses, and wear shorts instead! These are from "Tara Starlet", but I bought them at "Daisy Dapper" - a lovely 50s repro/pin up shop here in Stockholm! Love the high waist with buttons on them. The little tie on cardigan is from Kappahl and their "Vintage Stories" collection they came out with a few years ago. The boots, from "Miss L Fire", I wrote about earlier.

Its been quite warm here in Sweden - for being Sweden - for the season. But tonight the temperature dropped drastically, and now it's down around freezing point. So, time to bring out the winter coat! This coat looks vintage, but is not vintage at all! It's from H&M, and I got it three or four years ago. It's warm and cozy, and fits the rest of the clothes in my closet, so I think it might get to stick around for a few more years!

This purse I use a lot! It used to belong to my grandmother, but since she knows I'm into vintage, she gave it to me! She loves seeing my new vintage finds, and often remembers having something "just like that" when she was young. She was, and still is, quite stylish - my 94 year old grandma!

I'm finally back from my little secret vintage mission trip to Rouen! In the meantime I have posted comments to my pre-programmed posts from my iPod. The problem with that is that the screen on that phone is so sensible, so two times I have accidentally pressed "delete", when I meant to press "publish". So if someones comment doesn't appear in the comments area I'm really sorry! I tried to find out how to find and publish deleted posts, but it doesn't seem possible. Think I'm going to write to Google blogs and complain about that!...But I always read the comments before I publish them - because I treasure them too much to risk not having read them if something goes wrong with the publishing...Now I'm back with my computer though...

But now for this weeks school outfit! 

This dress I made after a vintage pattern from the 40s. 

When I saw this fabric I thought it kind of reminded me about sinews, but I had to get it anyway!

The dress has little pleats around the neckline, and buttons down part of the front. The belt I made out of the same fabric. Vintage dresses usually has matching belts I've noticed. 

It's cold here in Sweden now. But it doesn't feel cold enough to put on the winter coat yet. So for this "in between" time, I just threw this lovely vintage fur cape over one of my not too warm fall coats. The coat used to be my moms. She bought it in the 70s. It looks a lot older than that though, and I love it! The fur stole I bought during mine and Fanny's trip to Rouen. But more of that tomorrow...

Monday's school outfit

Monday again! Will give an account for a group project in class later today. We've been doing PR-pitches. Once I misheard when someone said "PR-pitch" though, and thought she said "PR-bitch". So now I know what I'm gonna write on my future business cards - "Miss Meadows - PR-bitch"! I'm sure everyone will hire me after that!

Decided to wear a skirt you've already seen - the red one I made after a pattern from the 50s. The blouse is new though! Or, actually I got it for Christmas last year, but I haven't used it yet. It's from "Dracula Clothing". If you're a teen goth, this is probably clothing heaven, but they actually make some nice victorian inspired clothes for people who are just normal goths. You all know you have one of those dark figures living in you. Don't be afraid to let them out sometimes! If the set sizes they have doesn't fit your body, you can give them your own measurements and get whatever you decide to order made especially for you - with no extra cost!

I like the Victorian collar on this blouse. But wearing it folded down fits my vintage look better, so that's how I'm gonna wear it! At least for today...

If you have it folded up, there's also a lacy bow that can be fastened like a brooch at the neckline.

Tomorrow will be spent running around visiting four different PR-agencies, to see how they work. Then, on Wednesday, I will head to Rouen with Fanny on a secret mission. I've programmed a few blog posts though. Don't think I'm going to leave you all alone just because I go to France for a few days!

Monday's school outfit

This Monday's dress comes from some store on Melrose in LA. Bought it on last summers little trip there.

It's from the 50s, and is home sewn. This is one of my "just throw on" dresses that I...well...just throw on, when I need to just throw something on - if you know what i'm sayin'...

It has been over-dyed with black though, but it looks blacker in this picture that it is in real life. If you look closely at the fabric you can see the Hawaiian islands here and there on it, with the islands names written in gold. So with this Hawaiian theme I can imagine the dress was very colorful before someone dyed it.

Since it's become quite chilly here in Sweden I put on a little purple cardigan over the dress. It's from H&M, and I bought it a long time ago.

Something that always spices up your outfit is hair flowers, so I added some matching purple ones to mine! Can't remember where I got these...In this photo you can see my sister tattoo. Both mine and my sister's names start with a "C", so we both got these on the side of our left hands. Inked together for life!

After my PR-class I ended up at The Vampire Lounge for some Halloween drinks. When I arrived I met Fanny and Michael, looking pretty as usual...

Monday's school outfit

Last week I told you I had found a 30s dress at "Old Touch", and that pictures of it would probably appear on this weeks "Monday's school outfit" post. I always do everything I can to keep my promises, so here it comes! The fabric is transparent with black and white patterns, so underneath I'm wearing a black 40s slip. I thought I would have to take the dress in a bit, but my clever friend Fanny told me to try it with a wider belt than the slim one, in the same fabric as the dress, that came with it. I prefer not to alter old dresses if I don't have too - especially with fragile fabric like this - and with a wider belt it worked really well! This is a dress that's not supposed to sit tight around your body anyways. The belt I used is from H&M.

I almost always wear stockings, but with this dress I wanted opaque black ones, so pantyhose it became! These ones are from "Pierre Robert" - really soft ones! The shoes are the ones I found in NY, from "Chelsea Crew".

I love finding shoes that both look good and are actually comfortable to walk in too! These ones are.

Monday's school outfit

Oh the pressure of always having to wear something different to my PR-class on Mondays, so I won't bore my dear readers with already seen outfits! This time I cheated a bit though, and wore a skirt you've already seen - the one Fanny gave me. The top is an old one from Gina Tricot.

I've had a bit of a foot ache the last month, so I have to wear really comfortable shoes for the moment. I guess we all have our "old faithful" when it comes to shoes. The one pair we can always rely on if we know we're going to walk around a lot, and don't want to ruin the day by leaving bloody footprints behind us - even though the achy shoes might be pretty. These are my "old faithful":

I bought them many years ago at shoe store called "Din Sko" ("Your Shoe"), which is a bit like the H&M of shoes in Sweden, that sells shoes at very good prices. The day these shoes die, I'm going to have a proper funeral for them. And then I'm going to wear black for at least half a year...

This Monday I was a bit confused, and managed to jump on the buss to go to class one hour too early. Oooops! So, what is a girl to do, in the middle of Stockholm, when she has a whole hour to spend? She goes shopping of course!!! I went to a vintage store called "Old Touch". They have a lot of things in there! I think you could visit every day and still find something you haven't seen before.

I found a lovely dress from the 30s that got to come home with me. Pictures of that one will come later! Probably on the next "Monday's school outfit" post. I can't reveal everything right away, can I?!!!

Monday's school outfit

The "Monday's school outfit" post is becoming mandatory here on my little bloggywogg. So of course I can't wear jeans to my PR-class. That wouldn't be so interesting to read about, would it?! And why would I want to wear jeans anyway?...This is what I threw on this Monday:

The blouse comes from "Bettie Page Clothing". The belt is H&M, and the skirt I have sewn myself, after a pattern from the 50s.

I hope you all see how precisely I'm imitating the pose the girl on the pattern envelope is showing. I practiced a lot for this...

It's getting cold outside, and then you need a nice coat. Like this one for example! It's vintage, from the 60s, and I bought it very cheaply from my friend Charlotta. It comes from H&M, but I was a bit surprised when I found this tag on the inside of the coat:

Luhta for H&M. And I thought the collaborations between H&M and other designers was something pretty new. Well, well...

The raccoon fur I'm wearing around my neck is made out of real polyester. Fancy, right?! It has a clip on the inside at one of the ends, so it's easy to fasten around the "tail". There was a little note attached to it when I bought it, showing how you should fasten it around your neck. Beside the around-the-neck picture, there was another illustration, showing that you can also wear it around your head...

I'm not so sure about this placement though. I think I'll just stick to wearing it around my neck...

Monday's school outfit

Yet again Monday arrived - what a surprise - and off to the PR-course I went! This time wearing a dark green dress I've made myself. The pattern I used is from 1949, just after Christian Dior had introduced the "New Look" with wider, longer skirts. The fabric is quite heavy, which gives it a nice flow.

The peplum is attached to the belt, and can be removed. Black, transparent gloves from "Cheap Monday".

The diamond shaped hole below the collar is fastened with a hook and eye. But it easily opens up by itself, so I usually ad a brooch there to keep it closed. This is the one I like to chose. I think the dark read stones go well with the dark green of the dress. Brooch is vintage.

On my head I'm wearing the "Dreadful Hat", by Magdalena Kellerman. I earlier wrote about it here.

As I've said before, I'm ok with wearing fur if it's vintage, and the taxidermy animals Magdalena uses when making her hats all died a long time ago! Some might think this hat - and the one I bought at the Vintage Fair, also by Magdalena - are a bit morbid. Well, maybe they are, but I love them!

Monday's school outfit

I've spent a few days at my sisters place, for some photo shoots, parties, good food, and - of course - my Monday PR course. For class this week I wore a vintage dress, probably from the 60s, I bought at Sivletto.

The necklace was a birthday present from my sister. It comes from Hultquist.

And then we have Seved - the very authentic raven...

My sister bought him as props for the "Sleeping Beauty" shoot, where he sat in the window in the background. Now all he does is fly around her apartment, leaving white droppings and black feathers everywhere...
