If you like pinup art you might have heard of the man who himself claimed to be "the inventor of the pin-up". This man's name was
Jean-Gabriel Domergue (March 4, 1889 - November 16, 1962). Domergue was a French painter specializing in portraits of Parisian women, and although most people think about the 1940s and 50s when it comes to pinups, I can really see how he could name himself as the inventor of this genre. The women in his paintings are often portrayed more or less nude, a bit provocative, but never pornographic, and always beautiful. I really like his art, so I hope you will too - cause here comes a Domergue pic spam:
These are wonderful...I love the soft quick strokes of paint, it makes them almost look like reflections in water..so beautiful!!I love the 6th & 7th pieces...so dreamy!! Happy Monday my darling girl, I hope the weekend was bliss for you!! Xxx
ReplyDeleteYour blog has some of the most gorgeous and interesting pictures I've seen in a long time -- and not just because of the nudity! Thanks very much for collecting them. I came across it from an image search of something else; I forget what. But now I'm going through the archives.
ReplyDeleteThank you darling! :) I know how much I like looking at nice pictures myself, so I always try to find the best ones for my blog post! xox
