I just found a page on Facebook called
History In Color, which shows colorized versions of old black and white photos. There is no info on who the artist actually is, or how to contact him/her (other than to send a message on Facebook), but in the page's information it says that
It's easy to forget that these old photos were taken in a full color-world. Coloring helps them remove that barrier between the past and our modern eyes, drawing us a little bit closer to the reality in which the photo was taken... And here are some of the pictures. This is, by the way, probably the best I've seen when it comes to colorized photos!
