Louis Vuitton F/W 2012/2013 Ad Campaign

I've never been a big Louis Vuitton fan - except for when it comes to the way they present their ad campaigns! I did a post on their S/S 2012 ad campaign earlier. If you haven't seen it, you can find it here! Compared to that ones delicious ice cream pastels, the F/W 2012/2013 campaign is much more somber - as it should be, since it shows the designs for the darker seasons...

Louis Vuitton's artistic director, Marc Jacobs, says that these ads are meant to evoke "the glamour of travel and the romance of going somewhere". The photos were taken by Steven Meisel, inside the reconstructed interior of the Louis Vuitton Express.

During the Louis Vuitton Paris fashion show the whole train entered the runway. When the models stepped out of it and the music started, it felt like looking at the first scene of a movie set in older days. I love the way they had chosen to show the bags during the show. The models - or should I say the traveling aristocratic ladies - of course didn't carry their own bags! For this job each girl was followed by an impeccably dressed bellboy who carried her luggage - and so showed it off for the audience! Here is the show:

From July 5 the web site lousvuittonexpress.com will document the train's journey from Paris to Shanghai - where the trip ends at the famous Bund on July 19. This event coincides with the opening of Louis Vuitton's first maison in China, and an exhibition of travel articles.
