Daisy Dapper Event

Last Wednesday the rockabilly/pinup shop Daisy Dapper had invited a bunch of people to come look at their new SS 2013 collection - plus everything else that just had arrived for the spring.

When I arrived - fashionably late - together with my sister, we were glad to see there was both bubbly and lots of goodies left for us! I love stepping into this little shop! Everything looks as delicious as the macarons that were served this evening!

Everything goes in those ice creamy colors that were so popular during the 50s. Except for Daisy Dapper's own clothing collection, the racks are also full of dresses, skirts and tops from other popular repro brands. But it's not just clothes. Lots of other items that makes every pinup girl drool, are scattered around the shop!

Makeup.

I also met some nice people. From the left; my sister Christine, Calamity Amelie, Tifa, Alexander, Miss Daisy Dapper herself - Matilda, Damón, and in the back Marika and Malin.

Me and Tifa! I ended up buying a black pencil skirt from Daisy Dapper's own collection. For those of you not lucky enough to live in Stockholm, so you can just pop by this shop any day, Daisy Dapper - of course - also has a web shop!

Beneath The Surface...

In the middle of Stockholm lies the Hallwyl Palace. After the Hallwyl family stopped living here, it has now become a museum - both in itself, with it's beautiful interiors and collection of art, and as a venue for showing different exhibitions.

From March 8th - June 9th they have an exhibition called Beneath the surface - the Unmentionables and other Sweet Taboos at the turn of the 20th Century. As you can imagine this was something I had to see! So here are some of the goodies that were on display! 

I love this old bra! It was during the 1930s cup sizes were given the letters ABCD, that were supposed to be equivalent to the sizes of A - half a lemon, B - half an orange, C - half a grapefruit, and D - half a melon.

Behold! The very practical combinège - with a very convenient butt-flap!

The Hallwyl Palace is equipped with many modern luxuries. Like for example this bathtub...

...and this very comfortable indoor toilet! Wow...

Instruments used for gynecological examinations. Nice...

And this is what women used for their once-a-month "inconvenience"...These are from the 1920s, and are crocheted in two layers, with an opening in one side where they put some kind of absorbing material.

Beautiful wedding dress from 1865. Closest to the floor the with of the skirt is 5,5 meters!

This was my second visit to the Hallwyl Palace, and if you go to Stockholm I highly recommend paying it a visit! Even though you might not be interested in the current exhibition, the palace is a museum in itself. I have actually decided to move in there! So you're all welcome to my new home for a cocktail or two! Sort of...

Fabergé Friday

My favorite flower is Lily of the Valley, so now when the snow is finally melting away, I can start looking forward to be able to smell these lovely flowers in not too long again! For now though, we have to make do with other versions of it - like this Fabergé Lily of the Valley Locket, made between 1899 and 1903 by workmaster August Holmström!

The locket is made of gold and silver, and is covered in pearly, light blue enamel. The hight is 1 1/4 inches (3,2 centimeters).

On the front sits an Art Nouveau lily of the valley in gold, set with greyish half-pearls and rose-cut diamonds.

The inside is fitted with a glazed miniature gold picture frame. I don't know who owns this lovely little thing today, but I hope he or she wears it a lot - with a picture of a beloved one inside...

H&M Conscious Exclusive Collection 2013

A letter combination you don't see so often in my blog is "H&M". But today's post will be all about it! For the last few years this global fashion brand has been creating what they call the Conscious Collection - a collection made with the environment in mind. All the pieces in this line are made in sustainable and recycled materials. This year they have added more glamorous designs, so you can party with style, at the same time you can rest sure your clothes were made in an eco-friendly way. This is called the Conscious Exclusive Collection. I don't shop at H&M so very often, but even I wouldn't mind owning a few pieces from this line! Here are my favorites.
