Mrs Murphy's Woman Power Bootcamp!

As you all know, I've been working for Mrs Murphy for some time now, as her pr-assistant/event coordinator. And THIS is what we've been working on - Mrs Murphy's Woman Power Bootcamp! Mrs Murphy has three different workshops: Mrs Murphy to the Rescue...!, Mrs Murphy's Shool of High Heels, and Put on you FAB FACE honey - time to SHINE like that star you are, all with the goal of making women feel good about being women! There is so much talk about feminism these days, so now we want to focus on the feminine in feminism - something people don't talk about that much. Putting on red lipstick and a pair of high heels doesn't make you inferior to men - as long as you do it for yourself, and find your own inner woman power!

So what we have done now is we have created a weekend where you can come to Stockholm and experience all three of Mrs M's workshops!

As the event will take place in Stockholm a lot of the text on the poster is in Swedish, but that's because this time we focus on the Swedish ladies. We plan to do this in other countries later on too though...

The weekend takes place 22 - 24 May, and the participants will sleep at the beautiful Hotel Kungsträdgården that just opened in the center of Stockholm. When visiting the hotel both me and Mrs M wanted to move in. It's very elegant - with a crystal chandelier in each room! Here we will drink champagne, eat breakfast and lunch, and listen to Mrs M's wise words.

Mrs Murphy's School of High Heels will take place at another location than the hotel, but under the care of me and two other of Mrs M's Special Agents of Fabulousness we will take care that you get there and back comfortably.

For more info (in Swedish) go here! This is also where you can buy your tickets to this luxurious event! Looking forward to meeting some lovely ladies there!

Sponsors of the event are: Björn Axén, Deichmann, Makiash, Pinup Girl Clothing, Daisy Dapper, Viola Lahger, O.L.D, Nosh and Chow, and Hotel Kungsträdgården. So you don't want to miss that goodiebag! Haha!

Christmas Gift Ideas

Shopping for Christmas gifts can be both fun and stressful. Ordering your presents online is a bit less stressful than running around town with all the other shoppers though. So here are a few tips for what to put under the tree!

Lady Love Song Dress in Merlot Velvet

Endless Enchantment Dress

Two gorgeous dresses perfect for both Christmas and New Years! Both are from ModCloth.

Stockings is something you always need more of - especially if you're into the vintage style, like me, and wear them on a daily basis. These are fully fashioned ones from What Katie Did!

You find all sorts of usable things in Mrs Murphy's webshop. This is a very good...um...water bottle, for example...

Jewelry from Garland Row. I really want one of these diamond studded star rings - in white gold - please...

We can never have too many pairs of shoes! These very 40s-looking babies are from Daisy Dapper!

The problem about doing these gift-help posts is that I end up wanting everything I write about myself! Think I need a glass of red wine and a massage now...

Last Moment Christmas Gifts

Soon it's CHRISTMAAAAAS!!! If anyone had forgot I mean... My Christmas shopping is done *phew*... But if you need some last minute tips, I have a few for you!

Source

Bra, panties and garter belt from What Katie Did's Coco series. I just love that bra! And the brown color is a nice alternative to the "normal" black.

Source

French knickers - also from What Katie Did. These come in black or peach!

Source

The Black Currant Scones Heel from ModCloth. Vintage style shoes with a heel low enough for not getting feet aches during long parties. Yay!

Source

The Goodnight Kiss Gloves, also from ModCloth. Long, warm gloves with diamond-shaped cutouts decorated with red lips!

Source

The Fan Seashell Bag, from It's Vintage Darling. Kizzy of the blog The Dainty Dolls House, posted a picture of this bag a few days ago, and now I want one myself!

Pearl necklace in a variety of colors, with matching bracelet, from Daisy Dapper!

Come to think of it, I actually want all these things myself! Better write Santa another letter. Haha...

Outfit Post

When I was in Paris I walked into a lovely little shop, and was greeted by a dog. The shop was shared by four or five different designers, who sold their creations - everything from hats and jewelry, to clothes - in different parts of the shop. The reason I went in was because I had spotted a top in the window I needed to take a closer look at. It's designer's name is Meral Akrour, and yes, it ended up coming home with me...

The top is made in a lovely, flowy fabric, and the color is orangey red.

It ties at the back of the neck, and what you can't see in the picture, is that it has an opening going from the neck and then really far down on the back! Here I'm wearing it with a skirt from Daisy Dapper, and seamed stockings from What Katie Did. This evening I was off to perform at Wotever at Bonden Bar, so wearing a top underneath which I didn't need a bra was perfect. Bras leave ugly marks on your skin you know, which you don't want when taking off your clothes in a burlesque show. Many things to think about...

I had a lovely evening with the crazy Wotever-people, and performed my "Diamonds are Forever" act. The audience made lots of noise, so I guess they appreciated it. The only annoying thing was that two days before the show I had slipped on my tulle skirt, taken a very gracious dive to the floor, and twisted my whole bad leg. So now my evil Pain Demon has been back for the last, almost two weeks. I had decided that I was going to perform anyway, but since then I've spent the rest of the days just sitting as still as I can. Really scary to feel this horrible pain again, but I'm hoping for the best - that it goes away fast this time!!!

Found some more pictures of that top on Meral Akrour's Facebook page by the way. Now I want that white, transparent one with dots to!!!

Beach 2013

Summer is on it's way, and whether you like basking in the sun on a sandy beach, or rather prefer sitting in the shade of a parasol beside a pool, with one colorful drink in each hand, a stylish bathing suit might soon come in handy. So here are a few I wouldn't mind dressing up in myself!

The Bow Bikini from What Katie Did.

The A Lace To Call Your Own bathing suit from ModCloth.

The Moonlit Swimsuit top and bottom, ModCloth.

The Lacy Days one piece, ModCloth.

The super sweet two piece Cutie Pie Picnic, ModCloth.

The Bathing Beauty in emerald green. Love this color!...

...and it also exists as a two piece! Both from ModCloth.

Same style as above, but in another color. This one is called the Snack Bar Beauty, ModCloth.

For the cherry lovers there is also this one from Daisy Dapper. If you prefer getting a tan but with no tan lines, I recommend you go to a nudist beach though! Never been to one myself, but heard it can be quite fun... But don't forget sunscreen!!!

PS. Since many of the bathing suits in this post come from ModCloth, I might as well mention that right now ModCloth is giving away free grab bags with stuff for 50 USD to everyone who places an order over 125 USD! The supplies for these grab bags are limited though, so get them while they last! Click on the banner below to get there quickly!

Daisy Dapper Event

Last Wednesday the rockabilly/pinup shop Daisy Dapper had invited a bunch of people to come look at their new SS 2013 collection - plus everything else that just had arrived for the spring.

When I arrived - fashionably late - together with my sister, we were glad to see there was both bubbly and lots of goodies left for us! I love stepping into this little shop! Everything looks as delicious as the macarons that were served this evening!

Everything goes in those ice creamy colors that were so popular during the 50s. Except for Daisy Dapper's own clothing collection, the racks are also full of dresses, skirts and tops from other popular repro brands. But it's not just clothes. Lots of other items that makes every pinup girl drool, are scattered around the shop!

Hair flowers and jewelry.

Shoes and my favorite magazine Min Boudoir!

Pinup match boxes.

Kitchen stuff.

Man stuff.

Bags.

Hats and stockings.

Scarves.

Makeup.

I also met some nice people. From the left; my sister Christine, Calamity Amelie, Tifa, Alexander, Miss Daisy Dapper herself - Matilda, Damón, and in the back Marika and Malin.

Me and Tifa! I ended up buying a black pencil skirt from Daisy Dapper's own collection. For those of you not lucky enough to live in Stockholm, so you can just pop by this shop any day, Daisy Dapper - of course - also has a web shop!

I guess I had been nice...

...for Santa was very generous to me! And as I was given Christmas presents I think many of you people who read this blog would be interested in, I'm gonna do a little review of what was in the wrapped boxes with my name on them...

This emerald dress from "Daisy Dapper" I had already tried on for size, so finding it in one of the presents wasn't such a surprise - which didn't mean I wasn't looking forward to finally being able to hang it in my closet though! Really soft, slightly stretchy fabric. Me likes a lot!

Two gifts had been bought at "Kellerman Vintage":

A small, probably rabbit fur, collar, embroidered with pearls...

...and a lovely little evening purse - completely covered in paillettes, sewn on by hand.

Inside the bag I found a small coin-purse, a lipstick, and a little perfume bottle. I've had an eye on this evening bag for a long time - since I have spent quite some time at "Kellerman Vintage" this last year - so I already knew these things were contained in the bag. Fanny told me they had been there when the evening bag arrived at her shop, but that she hadn't had the heart to take them out. They kind of belonged together, telling a little story about the bag's previous owner. Now I have to take them out though, so I can put my own lipstick in there. But the little pieces of history will be saved. I could never throw them away!

My sister gave me a really cool, retro looking kitchen timer, from "Dulton". It can be set at two different times at the same time. So now i can...like...you know...boil two eggs at the same time! Fantastic!

It comes in all kinds of different colors!

As I'm a book-nerd, I always wish for books! This year I got two:

"Burlesque: A Living History", by Jane Briggman...

...and "Vintage Fashion", by Emma Baxter-Wright and Karen Clarkson.

I also found a Christmas present from my cat underneath the tree. It contained:

Rammstein's album "Rosenrot"!!! I really love my cat!

I hope all of you had a nice Christmas - surrounded by the people you love! Christmas presents may be fun both to give and to get, but in the end "the only thing you'll ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return", as Nat King Cole sings!
