A friend of mine just decided to sell some clothes and accessories, and was kind enough to ask me if I wanted to buy a certain hat from her, before she sold it to someone else. When I saw it, I definitely felt this one needed to be added to my hat collection! And here is why...
Gorgeous, isn't is?... It's a half hat from the 1940s or 50s, covered in the softest white feathers, that has light-pink nuances in it.
As the label on the inside says, it originally comes from Modes Bettina in Vienna. I googled the name, but unfortunately I didn't find any info about it's origins.
It fits my small-sized head perfectly, and I feel I could definitely dance Swan Lake in it. Haha! Love my new hat...

Nylon Stockings
As I love to wear nylon stockings, I have to say that the invention of nylon by Wallace Carothers at DuPont's research facility in the mid 30s was one of the biggest moments in fashion history! The first commercial sale of nylon stockings happened in the US, in late October 1939. These new stockings were cheap, durable and cheerer than the ones in silk or cotton used previously, and they instantly became extremely popular - with up to 4 million pairs sold in just one day! Over at LIFE Magazine I found a series of photos in homage of this invention. And here they are!

Vintage Fashion Show
Designer Linda of O.L.D - Obviously Linda Design has a large collection of vintage clothes she takes inspiration from. And sometimes she creates fashion shows with these vintage garments, when people wants to adorn their party/event with a bit of old fashioned flair. A few weeks ago she organized one of these fashion shows, and she asked me if I wanted to be one of her models. Of course I said yes, and she put me in a gorgeous 50s dress with matching belt and shawl! It fit me perfectly, but Linda refuses to sell it to me. Outrageous!!!!! Haha! Well, here are a few pics from the show!
The blond girl wearing the green dress in the bottom pic is Linda herself, and if you want to hire her for a vintage fashion show, or to have her design and sew something for you, you can contact her by mail: info@o.l.d.se, or visit her website or Facebook page!

Star De Cinéma
Sexy, glamorous, pin-up style clothing company Wheels & Dollbaby has released a new collection called Star De Cinéma. The sassy yet stylish, body-hugging clothes in this line evokes a feeling of the dangerously curvy Film Noir stars, from which designer Melanie Greensmith gets a lot of her inspiration. With both tops, skirts, pants and dresses, you can pick and choose, and match the items together in many different ways. Here are a few goodies from the collection!

Betty Brosmer
American pin-up Betty Brosmer (born August 2, 1935), has been called the worlds first true supermodel. And with all rights! After winning more than fifty beauty pageants she became the highest payed pin-up in the US in the 50s. She has had her face on over 300 magazine covers and books, appeared in thousands of magazines, on billboards in calendars and on music album covers. She was also the first model to receive residuals every time her pictures was published, and one of the first models who owned the rights to many of her photos and negatives. I guess you can say that Betty Brosmer certainly had (and still has) it. With her blond locks, big eyes, pretty smile, and amazing body, it's understandable how she got so successful. Her body is a thing of it's own though... With the measurements 38''-18''-36'' (96.5 - 45.5 - 91.5 cm), she had the greatest hourglass figure of all time! Whether or not her tiny waist is the result of tightlacing is not known. But if it is, she must have started her waist training at a very young age, considering she started her modeling career as a teenager... Anyway, here she is!
After marrying bodybuilder and entrepreneur Joe Weider in 1961, Betty Brosmer - now Betty Weider, the couple started working together in the health and fitness business. In 1981 she co-founded SHAPE Magazine, the first health and fitness publication for women.
The photo above was taken in 2011, at the opening ceremony of Muscle and Grace at the Joe and Betty Weider Museum of Physical Culture. So you see, she still looks gorgeous! She will soon turn 79 years old, but is still active, writing two magazine columns; Body by Betty and Health by Betty, which appear in the leading health and fitness magazines around the world.

Lena Hoschek
There's a designer who's name is Lena Hoschek, and every time I look through her collections I dream of getting my hands on everything, so I can just pick and choose for photo shoots! And then keep most of it of course... Haha! Her creations doesn't really follow trends, but reflects Miss Hoschek's fascination for the female ideal of the 40s and 50s, good craftsmanship, high-end tailoring, and traditional materials and patterns, but also rock'n'roll and music, tattoos, fast cars and bad guys...
Even though picking out favorites from her Spring/Summer 2014 Collection wasn't easy, here are the items I crave most from it. To see more, please visit her web site!
