Sugar Lace Lingerie

Everyone who likes shopping on Etsy knows that you can get stuck there forever. Searching for different items, and just finding more and more stuff to add to your shopping list. Well, here's another Etsy shop to add to that list! It's called Sugar Lace Lingerie and is owned by Adrianna Tenoiro, who creates beautiful, very feminine lingerie! Plaid Dress

Ok, I'm back from my one week off blogging! And I'm back with an outfit post. This is a dress I got for Christmas, and it's finally spring-like enough in this cold country to bring it out of my closet!

The dress is vintage, from the 40s, and made from a very light plaid cotton fabric. It has a nice "collar" application at the front, and big pockets. I found the dress at Dalena Vintage on Etsy, and I love it. Very soft and comfortable to wear.

I'm also wearing my Thomas Sabo charm bracelet. So far I have a skull, a gothic cross, and a guitar hanging from it, but there are so many charms to choose from, so I will be adding to it. Perfect things to wish for around birthdays and such!

New Vintage Dress And Jacket

In October last year I bought a new vintage dress suit. Thought it might be time to show it off now - half a year later... Hehe... But I actually haven't been able to wear it until recently, when the weather has finally been warm enough for it. But here it is!  It's from the 40s, and I got it at Dalena Vintage's lovely Etsy shop!

The dress and the jacket are made of the same fabric - a soft, light cotton. The top of the dress is folded over to the outside to create a bit of draping. The skirt is a bit gathered in the back.

And here is the matching jacket! It has a fitted waist, a peplum, and a little pleated bustle in the back. The sleeves have cuffs, and although I have them down in these pictures, I later folded them up. I like both looks though. For some reason the color of the two top pictures changed when I put them on my blog. The bottom photo shows off the real color of the fabric though. Damn you Blogger!!!

Two More Christmas Presents

I know I'm really bad at doing outfit posts. But here comes one, showing off two more things I got for Christmas  - a skirt suit, and a pair of shoes!

The New Look-inspired skirt suit is vintage, from the late 40s, in a black and brown fabric woven i tiny stripes. It has a bit of a sheen to it which made it look a bit stained in the photos - which it's not in reality. The jacket has a fitted bodice with a peplum, and brown velvet cuffs and neckline. There is a label inside that shows it was made by Jonathan Logan - a brand which, by 1966, was one of the biggest ready-to-wear companies in the USA. It was bought from DearGolden on Etsy.

And here are the shoes! Unfortunately, my old, black and very comfortable - but still good looking - favorite shoes died in November last year, when I was in Rome performing. That was a sad day... But I knew the time would come for us to part sooner or later. They had faithfully been walked and danced around in for many years... And then I found these perfect replacements, which I was happy to find under the Christmas tree! They are from ModCloth, and the brand is Chelsea Crew. I love a T-strap on shoes, that make them sit tight to my slender feet. Let's hope they will be with me for many years to come!

Fevernest

Sometimes I can't believe how many talented and creative friends I have. They make great blog post subjects too! I have written about some of them before, but here comes yet another one - Elsa, from the blog Grandmother's Pearls!

Except for being a blogger, model (under the name Miss Torso) and vintage fashionista, Elsa is also an amazing textile artist - and it's her work in that area this post will be about! She always has different project going on, and works in different type of media. Like for example...

I love these! The slightly morbid themes blended with the traditional embroidery fits my mind perfectly! A few of these are for sale in her Etsy shop  - Fevernest! Right now she's also selling postcards with photos she has taken of her beloved cornish rex cat Ignalina.

As you can see from the bottom picture - the back of the postcard - Ignalina is trying to collect money to pay her own medical bills. It was just discovered that this extremely friendly and cuddly cat has FORL - a disease that causes inflammation in the gums. For Ignalina this means taking out all of her teeth, except her fangs! Of course there was also the choice to put her to sleep...As she is only six years old though, and means the world to Elsa, this was not something to discuss. And so the surgery to remove her teeth begun. So far half of Ignalina's mouth is toothless, but she recovers really fast, so we're hoping the second and last surgery will go fine as well! What remains is to actually pay the kitty's medical bill - which as you can imagine is of a quite high sum...So if you want to help, check out Fevernest on Etsy! Grandmother's Pearls

Outfit Post

Etsy is a dangerous place! It steals my money over and over again. This is what I got in return for some money-loss this time...

...A rushed, black organza dress from the 50s! The bodice is boned, and the skirt has a stiff linen/horsehair lining and a metal hoop that makes the skirt stand out a bit. I love how the top layer is draped! Found it on Crush Vintage's Etsy page.

And then we have the shoes!!! I had been looking for the perfect red glitter stilettos for some time, so I was pretty darn satisfied when I walked past a shoe store and saw these sparkle through the window! As you can see they they followed me home...

Wiggle Dress

Two lovely vintage dresses just arrived to my door all the way from the United States of America! I know, it's amazing how easy it is to shop in different countries by just clicking the "buy" button. Almost a bit too easy...Well. Here's one of the dresses I bought!

It's a black wiggle dress from the 50s, with two pockets in the front, belted waist...

...a slit in the back, and lovely lace appliqués on the front. Since they totally disappeared in my own photos, I'll show you the ones from MidnightMart - which is the Etsy shop I bought it from.

Lilli Ann Suit

I have been looking for a vintage suit from the 40s for some time now. Since I'm such a small person, it's difficult to find things that fit me. Usually I can alter things to make them sit better on me, but a suit jacket is something I don't feel like trying to alter too much. But then one day, while searching through Etsy, and ending up at Shanghai Lili's Portmanteau of Pleasure, I found just what I had been looking for - a 40s suit in my size!!! And it gets even better - it's a Lilli Ann suit!

The clothing company Lilli Ann was started in San Francisco in 1933, by Adolph Schuman. He named it after his wife - Lillian - and during the 40s and 50s they were known for their high-quality fabrics and their elaborately designed suits and coats. I have seen pictures of many Lilli Ann suits, and admired the shape and details on all of them. So I have to say I felt quite satisfied when I found one...

It's slightly light-damaged. Probably from hanging in a store window. But it's far from as visible in reality, than on these pictures. If you don't know about it, you probably wouldn't think of it! When I look at these photos I'm not even sure the color shifts you can see in them really are the light-damage, or just my cameras fault...

The suit is made of wool, so it's perfect for fall! And as you can see it came with a short cape to make it even warmer!

According to the Vintage Fashion Guild the label is from late 40s-early 50s. 

The red felt hat is made by Sweden's own sexpert/hat designer Marika Smith, and was part of my payment for working and performing at her burlesque flea market last Saturday. But more about that another day...
