Fabergé Friday

It's Fabergé egg-time again! There are SO many little egg-pendants from his workshop out there! This one is very unusual though. It was made by workmaster Feodor Afanasiev, sometime between 1908 and 1917.

The egg is carved from ivory, and sits in a piece of gold "egg shell".

The height of the egg is 3/4'' (1,8 cm), and it was sold to an unknown buyer from Romanov Russia.

Fabergé Friday

We haven't done a Fabergé egg pendant for a while, so here comes another one. It was made by workmaster Henrik Wigström, sometime between the years 1903 and 1917!

This little egg - that actually looks like a real egg - is made of white quartzite. Around the egg sits a gold band set with rubies and rose-cut diamonds. The dimensions of the egg are 0.7'' x 0.6'' (1.9 x 1.5 cm), and it was probably acquired by Queen Alexandra. Since 1953 it has been part of the Royal Collection.

Fabergé Friday

There are still many Fabergé egg pendants out there. So here comes another one! This one is very colorful, and was made around the year 1890!

The egg is covered in different colored enamel over a guilloché ground. The color fields are separated by gold lines.

In the center of each color field sits either a rose-cut diamond, a sapphire, a ruby, or an emerald - all framed in gold.

The height of the egg - without the suspension ring - is 0.7'' (1.7 cm). I found it on Romanov Russia's website, and this one has already been sold to some lucky person...

Here comes yet another one of Fabergé's famous egg pendants. This one was made by workmaster Mikhail Perkhin, sometime between the years 1896 and 1903!

As I love the night and the stars, I feel this one would fit perfectly on a chain around my neck! The little gold egg is covered in night-blue enamel over a guilloché ground. It is also decorated with rose-cut diamonds in a falling star pattern. It's dimensions are 0.6'' x 0.5'' (1.6 x 1.2 cm), and it was acquired by Queen Alexandra. Fabergé Friday

Of all the little egg pendants Fabergé created, some were more important than others. Like the two shown below for example, made between the years 1908 and 1917!

The difference between these and the "normal" egg pendants are that these are so called "Imperial Presentation Egg Pendants", decorated with the cipher of Empress Maria Feodorovna in gold. These eggs were given personally by the Empress to female members of the Royal family and ladies-in-waiting at Easter time. Very few of these eggs have survived, and the two in this post comes from the same family, and are said to have belonged to one of the Empress' ladies-in-waiting.

The smallest of the two eggs - 0.7'' (1.9 cm) high - is carved from a piece of golden chalcedony.

The slightly bigger one - 0.9'' (2.2 cm) high - is made of rhodonite. Siberian Rhodonite (Orletz) was one of Carl Fabergé's favorite stones.

The egg is covered in pale lilac enamel over a guilloché ground. Around the center leaps a matte gold band of finely chased acanthus leaves with white opaque enamel borders.

The size of the pendant is 13/16'' (2 cm), which is bigger than the usual Fabergé egg pendants - as you can see in the comparison picture above. The price for it is 18,500 USD, and it's for sale at Romanov Russia.

Fabergé Friday

Let's go for another egg pendant today! This one was made by Fabergé's workmaster August Hollming, around 1890!

The egg is put together by a cabochon moonstone, and a cabochon garnet, held together by a gold band set with rose-cut diamonds. On this band a diamond-set arch is attached, which makes it possible for the egg to swivel and rotate around it's own axis. The hight of the pendant is 3/4'' (1.9 cm), and the price you have to pay to have it as your own, is 35,000 USD. It can be bought here!

Fabergé Friday

Feels like it's time for an egg again! As Fabergé made lots of egg pendants there is a big chance of actually getting to be the owner of one of those - if you have the money of course... Today's egg pendant is made in the Russian Revival Style, that became popular in 1870, when Victor Butovsky published a book named Histoire de l'Ornement Russe du Xe au XVIe Siècle d'apres les Manuscrits, which reproduced hundreds of Russian medieval ornaments.

This tiny egg 3/4 inches (2 centimeters) high, is made of gold, and decorated with rose-cut diamonds, and guilloché and champlevé enamels in translucent blue, orange and green, and opaque white and black.

Champlevé is an enameling method in which decorations are carved into the surface of a metal object and filled with enamel (glass powder). After the enamel has been melted by fire and then cooled, the surface is polished. Since the colored stripes on this egg pendant is only 1/25 inches (1 millimeter) wide, you can understand how accomplished the egg's creator - head workmaster Erik Kollin - was.

The pendant was made around 1885, and now it's for sale again! So if you want it, take out 35,000 USD from your mattress, and follow this link to Romanov Russia!

Fabergé Friday

Let's take a look at another of the many egg-pendants that were made in Fabergé's workshop. This one was created around 1900!

About half of the little egg is covered in white enamel over a guilloché ground. The other half consists of a faceted, gold mounted amethyst. It was created by workmaster Feodor Afansiev.

The hight of the egg is 0.4 inches (1,75 centimeters), and it was once owned by Vladimirovna Chatelain - Lady in Waiting of Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna (sister of Tsar Nicholaus II).

Fabergé Friday

The object for today's Fabergé post is yet another little egg pendant, made by Fabergé's workmaster August Hollming sometime between 1908 and 1913!

This egg is covered in translucent pink enamel over a guilloché ground. On the front sits an Art Nouveau flower in two-colored gold, set with a sparkling green Uralian demantoid garnet.

The stem of the flower is made of rose gold, while the leaves are in matte green gold. The hight of the egg - without the suspension ring - is 9/16 inches (14 millimeter), so it's very small.

For 14,000 USD it can be yours, if you follow this link!

The hight of the egg is 11/16'' (1,8 cm), and it was made by workmaster Henrik Wigstrom.
